3 down 1 to go

For many years I have had a women's bathroom sign on the girls bathroom door. I guess the sign had to come off because it is not fair to the newest toilet user. 3 girls down and 1 boy to go. I have noticed that I have had some problems with my terms due to the excessive potty training of girls. My biggest problem is I keep telling him to take off your panties...I mean underwear. I can't count how many times this has happened. I also thought it would be easy just have him sit for everything. Dad said No to that. A few more but I won't share to keep this tasteful. I think he is doing great, but honestly I had low expectations because of all the stories about boys being slow.

Great Job Brody...your panties are dry...I mean underwear!!!!

battle wound

I have been like most women in the world today and have always wanted to change something about my body. I have probably said more negative things about my body than positive. This body has created 4 human beings and I have never said good job. This body attracted a very hot husband yet I still never gave it a pat on the back :) This body has run many miles and wakes up each day to do things you take for granted. I love walking anywhere I want now. I love brushing my teeth and walking to the towel to wipe my face. It was such an annoying process to brush teeth than crutch over to a towel than crutch back to finish getting ready. I would forget I was on crutches while I slept until I needed to go the bathroom in the middle of the night. Danger to crutch while you are half asleep. I would crutch around the store and forget something on the other end of the store and wanted to cry at the thought of crutching all the way over there. Try sweeping and mopping your floor in a wheelchair...you get wheelchair lines everywhere. I guess some would say that my body failed me by having my Achilles snap in the first place but I have been amazed at my body. I would like to officially give my body its first compliment. Thank you for recovering nicely...you are amazing and I feel you getting stronger each day. I look around the orthopedics office and see so many people who are not healing as well as you. You amaze not only me but the doctors, who say I am ahead of schedule. I am proud of my scar on the back of my leg. It reminds me of how far we have come. A lot of people say you won't be able to tell when I start wearing pantyhose....hmm. A. I live in So Cal so that won't happen and B. I am proud of my battle wound and C. my husband loves me for much more than my Achilles :) I think of how amazing you are with each step I take. Now, don't think I will love you even more if you snap my other Achilles!!!!

Here is the battle wound at a little more than 3 months post-op
Body...I would like it though if you could slim down the hurt ankle to be like the good ankle again.

We love Ostrich!

I don't know how many people have "Eat an ostrich egg" on their "bucket list"... but it is on mine. Check it off.

This is a little comparison to a chicken egg.

Another size comparison to Brody's head.

The shell is so hard and thick that we had to drill a hole then break the yolk with straw.

FYI...One Ostrich egg is equal to 18 chicken eggs.

Conclusion...Everyone likes the taste of ostrich egg better than chicken eggs.
On to my next thing on my bucket list...Ride an Ostrich?

guy time

It is the annual Father and sons camp out. Last year I gave Scott a hard time because of this photo of Brody doing a dangerous fire dance. This year I was pleasantly surprised when I received photos with no looming danger nearby.
How much danger is there with football? You would think not much...but I am sure there was an adult game going on at sometime. I am sure Scott did not participate and was watching Brody the whole time.

Scott and his Mini me.

I normally call headlights... dork lights but I thought it was genius to have him wear one around camp at night to find him. He is too cute to call a dork.

We all know that Brody worships his Dad and copies his every move. I know that Brody would pick his Dad every time if given the choice. It made me feel great though when I got a call at 10 at night from a whiny little voice saying..."Miss you, Mommy coming"...and the whiny voice was not Scott.

cooking tip

This is my cooking tip for the day that my Grandma taught me. No one likes the heal of bread so here is a use. After you are done browning your meat use it like a sponge. It will absorb the grease in your pan and you won't have to drain the grease. Use both sides to absorb the grease then throw it away. I love this trick. Try it.

I failed again!!

Taylor has been wanting to be a photographer lately so she is doing her own photo shoots with her sisters. I thought this one was great...so natural... someone sitting in a tree with an umbrella? The girls love those umbrellas so they made her incorporate them with climbing a tree. It was nice for Sydney to get some attention. Everyone keeps asking me what have I done to show Sydney some love since I have failed her.

Nothing...I just keep failing her. She has lost 4 teeth within a two week period. The tooth fairy forgot not once but twice to come. Each morning she would bring her tooth in and say she forgot again. I was running out of excuses so the mini tooth fairies(her sisters) threw some money under her bed and told her she must of pushed it to the ground while sleeping. Taylor said sometimes the tooth fairy won't take teeth if she has already taken 3 within a week. Sydney bought it, but I felt like crap.

Next I decided to have a special mommy daughter date and take her to the doctor. I have noticed her coughing in January but then my accident happened and I just hoped her cough would go away. Well, it is May and it has not gone away... so off we went. The doctor looked at me strange when I told him she has had the cough since January. Long story short I spent $200.00 on medicine and that is with insurance. We came away with steroids, inhalers, allergy medications and breathing treatments. She has bronchitis plus allergies blocking her airway 90 percent. Not only can she not get enough oxygen through her allergy blocked nose, but once it gets to her lungs they are closed. Look at all the fun souvenirs from our mommy daughter date. I did take her after to the grocery store for a lunchable...I feel like crap.

Best meat marinade ever!

This is my new marinade for the summer bbqing...Love it. You will not have any meat left over no matter how much you make.

Sesame Beef Skewers

3/4 cup oil
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sesame oil
3/4 cup soy sauce
2 clove minced garlic...or 1 big tsp of garlic in a jar
3/4 tsp minced ginger...or I use the powder
3-4 lbs flank or flat steak
skewers

Cut steak against grain in rows ready for skewers... Mix all ingredients in zip lock back and marinate steak OVERNIGHT in bag...skewer them up and put them on the BBQ. I will be making this weekly at my house this summer.
