Need for Speed

What do you do when it is 10:05 at night and all your kids are nestled in there beds? Relax...but wait you get a call from your husband. Now I know he already can not live without me but this call proves it. "Honey I need you to drive to the LA airport...(1hour and 15 minutes away)...in 45 minutes. I forgot my passport." So you call your friend who you know you can always call when your husband forgets his passport at 10pm. Then you drive like a madwomen thinking if you die in a car crash who would breast feed Brody tomorrow. Then your husband keeps calling you to see how close you are because he is freaking out which makes me freak out. I tell him stop calling because I need to concentrate due to my high rate of speed. I even turned off the radio for safety. I knew the INDY race car drivers don't listen to their radio so I probably should not. I made it in time and did not die so Brody will get his breakfast this morning. All I know is I get a Huge mothers day gift...I mean HUGE.

Motivator

A long time ago I was a rookie mom. I went to the golden gate bridge with my friend who was not a rookie mom. Her daughter would not get out of the car to look at the bridge. My friend looked over the bridge and told her daughter that she thinks she sees dolphins. Her daughter quickly jumped out of the car to see the dolphins. Of coarse there were no dolphins. I was shocked that my friend would lie to her children. I have since learned that this tactic is not a lie but a simple tactic of motivation. This is a hiking trip we went on that my children needed some (lies) motivation from me.

Here we are getting ready to start our hike. I began the week by telling the girls that we were hiking to a mine. Who knows what we will find in this mine? Gold? Jewels? 7 Dwarfs? I knew they would complain so I thought this would keep them going. Look how excited they were for our adventure to the mine.

Still hiking. A few complaints. "Remember the Gold that we can find when we get there and cash it in at Target."

We are almost there and then we can run through the mine and explore. I knew we would spend hours exploring the mine with flash lights. It will be worth it I promise. Just keep going.

Yes, girls this is the mine. Boarded up with a keep out sign. No gold, no jewels, no dwarfs and even no exploring. I thought at least we could explore the mine. We had no complaints on the way there due to my motivation. I am sad to say that is not true on the way back. Luckily I am not a rookie mom. Why you ask? I brought my ipod for the way back and I did not hear one complaint.

slobber dog/baby

There are many things I love about my children. Then there are some things I just tolerate because you can not change them. I try to tell myself a slobbering baby is cute. It is so fun to change their outfit due to saliva. I love holding Brody and then get a wet surprise dripping on my feet. This slobbering dog might be an exaggeration of his slobber but not by much. I don't love the slobber but I love the smile that comes with it. I hope I get some teeth out of the slobber.

Gonna Make You Happy

Now I am always up for a good game of pac-man and lately the Wii. Sometimes just sometimes something comes over men/boys when they get a x box controller in their hand. I am sure no one can relate to this song.

BATHROOM WARS

I thought I only had the barbies' in the bathtub to deal with. (scroll down if you have no idea what I am talking about)

I have 5 bedrooms in my house. You think that Sydney could find some space to play. I am thinking I might just make my bathroom into the playroom.

senior class of 2016 & 2019

Last night was open house for the girls. I will always go since that is a childhood issue for me. I think many of our childhood issues makes us better parents. I come from a family of six so my parents could not always go to these school nights. I forgive you mom and understand as I can barely make it to two. I know my children will have some childhood issues but open houses will not be one. They can come up with their own issues. I might have created one last night for Taylor though. She showed me the picture she drew pictured above. I said "great did you draw that with your left hand?" "No, (with eyes of hurt) it is a cartoon drawing of me." Now to my credit she told me a few weeks ago they had to draw with their non dominant hand. I just happened to guess that was the drawing and I was wrong. Sorry Taylor if I created a childhood issue for you. Don't worry that will make you a better parent one day.

This is Carly showing us EVERY page of her Journal from January. LOVE it Carly. No childhood issue created there.

I wanted a more natural smile for this picture. This is what I got when I told her not to try so hard to smile. ISSUE?

Overall we had a great night. I love you girls and am so proud of how smart you are. I am glad your teachers and friends can see what I see in you both. I hope you both will remember my intentions to create a great non-childhood issue life.
P.S. Mom I forgive you for my other childhood issues that I am sure I will discuss in future blogs. LOL

New Bishop?

We are having some changes to our ward this weekend. I was hoping for a new bishop. Don't you think snoop dog would be fun. Think how fun our meetings would be if we added a little rap and cursing. "not that they are not fun now..." (just in case scott reads this) I just want to know who would be the dancing girls?

Don't believe what you see. This was an april fools joke with an article about how he can't put the book down. I know everyone did a double take. One day he will know the truth.

If you listen to the song I chose for this post, I will be singing this for the rest hymn. He is Good!!!

EBONY & IVORY

I am always amazed at how different my kids can look. Carly has always been our darker child. At first it used to bother her skin was darker than her sisters. She has come to love her difference and how she stands out in our family. I told her one day girls will lay out to try to have skin like hers. I personally love it because it is one less kid to put sunscreen on. Now remember that this contrast in the picture is with her winter skin. Her skin has not even seen the sun in months.

I never thought my kids really noticed the difference until one day Taylor came home from first grade. They were learning about civil right, Martin L. King and Rosa Parks. She told me the story of how Rosa Parks was forced to give up her seat in the front because she was black. She then said that she would never make carly give up her seat and move to the back of the bus. I busted up. "Your sister is not black."

This weekend was Brody's first hot tub experience and I think he will fit into the family nicely. I love seeing how daring my girls will be and jump into the pool in April. I don't know why I would be proud of that, but it makes me smile. Maybe they do it because Grandpa pays them a dollar. They are not dumb.

Drive-in

We went to the drive in a couple of weeks ago and saw Horton hears a who. It was great. If you ever go to the drive in during the summer or weekend it is packed. We decided to go on a Monday for FHE. I was thinking that it would be packed like summer so we left an hour before the movie started. We pulled up and no one was there. I was beginning to worry that maybe some gangs spread the word to avoid the drive in that night because it was their turf. I say that because the drive in is in a not so nice area of town. I just keep telling myself that gang bangers have families too. There were no shootings but the car next to us was smoking marijuana. The kids ask us what that smell was. We have no idea we told them. Car Freshener? We love the drive in and go often. I hope this description does not scare anyone because it is really fun. The experience even continues the next day when you go to clean out the car with all the popcorn and M&M's on every seat and floor. What more could you ask for. A cultural experience-gang territory, family bonding & you increase your food storage with all the popcorn left in the car.

I thought that I would post the phone # of the drive-in. Kids are free and adults are $7.00and you can bring your own snacks. To those of you who live close to us here is the phone # 683-4455.

2's company 15's a crowd

I have many bathrooms in my house. For some reason my girls always choose my bathroom to take a bath. They are old enough now where I do not have to supervise them in the bathtub. To my surprise...the next day I jump into the shower and this is what I get to look out and see. Seriously how many barbie's do you need to take a bath? Forever I will always look at a naked barbie and think of my girls. I wonder what scott thinks as he gets to look at this in the morning too?

Living in the moment

Yea!!!!!! I started a blog. I decided I want to start living in the moment and remembering all the moments I might forget. What is the best way to do that. A BLOG!!!! I was organizing old photos and wished I had written down some special moments because time is flying by. Hence the old photos. How do I know that time is flying by...you ask? I heard today that New Kids on th Block is having a reunion tour. Am I that old where my favorite boy band is having a reunion. I have been known to go on a run listening to "Hanging tough..."ok on Saturday. To prove my loyalty I even took a picture of an old t-shirt that i still have. I bet now I could get a pretty penny for it. LOL
