ugly sisters

Hair stylists get their inspiration from many places. Today I got my inspiration from the ugly step sisters in Cinderella. My girls had some crazy hair and socks for school spirit day. Each girl won a free yogurt for having the craziest hair in their class. I am so proud that they think my girls are ugly. Watch out Katrina I might open my own salon...a little competition

sisterly love?

I have been struggling to understand the bizarre love of sisters. I have a sister...but she is much younger than me. I was able to use my mind power to get her to do what I wanted. I even convinced her they had a bring your sister to seminary day at church. Each morning I would tell her when she didn't go that I was the only one who's sister did not come. She would feel so bad. She did not figure out this was a lie until she started seminary at 14 and I was in college. I am finding this is not the case with sisters who are close in age. Carly and Sydney are the best of friends yet their worst enemy. When it is time to clean their room, Carly divides the room but makes sure to push everything on Sydney's side. If Sydney was much younger and not as spunky she might fall for it. Nope, I hear Sydney yelling. "I am not inviting you to my birthday party (which is not even close) and I am not talking to you until December." Well needless to say the room takes about 4 hours to clean...no exaggeration. So for the past 4 hours I have heard yelling, fighting, crying, tattling, hitting, slamming things and finally laughter. I go to check and see they are done and tell them they can come out so they may go their separate ways. "But mom we want to play together!!!!!" I thought you were not talking till December and it is only January? Go figure...Sisters.

They're HUGE!!!

I try and tell my children that they can do anything they want in their life. I also think one should be realistic. These two sides sometimes conflict. Taylor will always tell me how she wants to get an athletic scholarship for college. She recently started playing basketball. The girls are giants and are her same age. So, although I try not to squash her Athletic scholarship dreams I have been lovingly steering her down the Academic scholarship road.

pick 1,2 or 3

1. She is so gifted and talented that she needs to challenge herself or
2. She is a big Stevie wonder fan and wants to feel his pain or
3. It is just Carly being Carly and you can not explain it.

My favorite gifts

I was really excited to give two gifts this Christmas. This one was to Scott (that's about all he got this Christmas). This is a picture of him on his mission on the baptism day with a family from Guatemala. The same family came and found him 15 years later. They waited at our door hoping this was his house. We did not know they were coming and we had been gone all day. As soon as Scott saw them as we drove up he knew who they were and got a little emotional. I was crying too because Brody was 2 days old and I had to climb all over the garage to find his mission photos (that is real love). Their kids wanted to find the Elders that baptized their parents and thank them. The Son went on a mission and attends BYU. The parents now live in Mexico and both are leaders in the church. So, this is a before and after photo for him to put in the Bishop's office. I made the vinyl quote and put it on the frame. I was hoping the YM might think it was cool.

My next cool gift was to my mom. I am sharing this gift because I think all mom's and mothers-in-law would love it (sometimes hard to shop for). I took the above photo and sent it to http://www.personalthrows.com/. They put it on a fleece blanket--it turned out better than I thought. The photo below is my brother standing with the fleece blanket. Not a good phone picture of the fleece but the blanket is actually colorful and crisp. Let's just say it brought tears. I am bugged because she put it on her wall. I would have bought her a framed photo if I knew she was going to put it on the wall. The grandkids love finding themselves on the wall. I hope one day my mom will really use it as a blanket.
