The cougar is 58

In every family you have a wild one. In my family it happens to be my mom. For 35 years she has wanted to go on a photo safari and feed the animals at the wild animal park. Her 58th birthday was last week and it was time to unleash the cougar within her.
We needed protection so we took my brother who just got back from being on a ship in the Navy for 8 months. I think he would go anywhere at this point. I am trying to be a rhino but he said it looked more like a shark.

So I changed to one finger in this photo to be more rhino-like. This is our safari group...me, Michael, Mom, Lisa and my animal lover Carly.

OK... Here are some real rhinos.

We kidnapped Carly from school. She was a little scared and said parents could not kidnap their own children. I told her it was a fun surprise, but she was nervous the whole drive.

I am trying to be an animal lover...

Totally got mother of the year award with Carly this day...Now I still have to think of something for Sydney.

The best photo of the day...Carly's idea!!! Happy birthday mom! Roar!!

FYI...to all my handicapped readers the animal park is not that wheelchair friendly. Thanks to Lisa and her p90x workout for her muscles to push me up the hills.

me, myself, and I

My new normal is Brody mimicking me walking in the boot...or every time he hurts himself he says he needs crutches. I am starting to feel normal again.

I decided to see how normal I was by taking all the kids to their open house by myself. Scott wanted to go to a basketball game so I told him to go I was fine. I parked a mile away because I was the driver and could not drop myself out front. I was tempted to give Taylor a quick driving lesson so she could park it. Still smiling as I crutched in and up stairs to Taylor's class. This is MY... I mean her greek project. I crutched all around her class still doing great feeling like mother of the year for making this effort.

Next stop down the stairs to Carly's class. Still smiling as I crutched in to look at her work. Not so fun for me was a scavenger hunt around the class. Back and forth around the the class is not fun when you are on crutches. I was still determined that the mother of the year award was within my reach if I kept a smile on my face. They were so happy to show me their work.

See look smile on my face!!

Last stop was Sydney's class. My energy was fading but I knew I could finish my marathon. I probably looked at one thing and then little did I know that my mother of the year award would be thrown out the window. Her teacher started talking to me about my injury and I got sucked in and began talking about it for 10 minutes. I would look up and see Sydney looking at her stuff walking around the class by herself. I could see the 20 drawings of bees from a far so I had an idea what she had made, but I just stood there talking about me, myself and I. Not thinking of her and her class. Over the loud speaker it said parents time to go they are locking up the school. I said "We need to go now girls our time is up." As I began to leave the teacher said one last thing...I have noticed Sydney has really been affected by your accident. She used to be confident and now she is clingy and whiny and kind of withdrawn. What?...I just sat and talked to you for 10 minutes about myself, ignoring the one daughter who has been affected the most and now my time is up. I crutched out of the class to my car feeling like such a jerk that I did not give her the attention she needed that night. I kept thinking about her walking around her class alone and what must have been going through her mind as she overhears me saying blah...blah...blah achillies. I failed to get the mother of the year award that night..Instead I got the most selfish mother of the year. I am so sorry Sydney that I did not realize how this is affected you.

Hair today...Gone tomorrow

I know everyone has been waiting for this photo. It looks much hairier in real life. I got my cast off today. I was soooo excited. I have been talking about it everyday for a week and counting down the days. Who do I call when I am excited...the person who has suffered everyday as much as I have. The person who aches when I ache. The person who cries when I cry. The person who laughs when I fall. The person who would swim in shark infested waters to bring me a lemonade (probably just to look at the shark). The person who does not mind an old person shower chair in his shower. I called my MAN!! "Honey, I got it off today!!" My Man's response..."You got off what today?" You did not just say that did you...Have you not been around for 10 weeks?" I think I am not going to shave my leg just to teach you a lesson. Who am I kidding? ...the hair will be gone tonight. The tendon feels so tight and now I need to stretch it like crazy. My calf is so small compared to the other one. It measures 1.5 inches smaller than the other. I am still on crutches but was instructed to walk on it with my big boot. My incision is still taped off in the back but I can get it wet now. I am happy since I am more than half way there.

Another Rowe bites the dust

Sydney was taking a shower and Brody snuck in and slammed the glass sliding door. All of the glass came showering down on Sydney. She screamed like I have never heard before. Luckily Scott was home... he ran faster than I could crutch to the bathroom. She was bleeding pretty bad so I knew our plans changed to an ER visit. She got x-rayed for glass and they super glued her deep cuts. They used the super glue instead of stitches to help with scarring. Her worst cuts were on her knees so no walking for a few days. What do you get if you can't walk and bend your knees...crutches.

She is soooo excited. She used my crutches more than anyone in the house. She was already an expert. Now she has some her size.

Crutch Twins....so embarrassing.

My Angels

They were a part of a new Guinness world record. More than 30,000 people wearing snuggies. They were really excited to go to the game and the snuggies put it over the top. No, I decided not to go to the game with the family due to the large number of stairs I would have faced. I am not ready to get back on the horse yet:)

Eggs, Easter and Earthquakes

My girls keep telling me how boring my blog is because it is all about me and my achilles. They say no one wants to hear about my achilles anymore. I guess they want me to talk about them so here goes...

We saw these next couple of pictures and decided to give it a try ourselves.

Here are some of the finished products and we even had tears from Carly...Her egg really fell and cracked. We tried to tell her how lifelike it was now but she did not buy it.

Next we had our first timer...

Finally, we had an Earthquake to remind us what Easter was all about.

Don't worry my next post will be about my achilles. I get my cast off in a week, so I think I might post a photo of what an unshaven leg looks like after 10 weeks...Exciting
