Leaving the runway of childhood

My new favorite quote for my child who is a little cautious..."When a great ship is in harbor and anchored, it is safe, there can be no doubt. But that is not what great ships are built for." Although there was no ship involved there was an airplane and nervous girl to fly alone to San Jose. You did it!!! Your ship/airplane is leaving the harbor/runway... You go Girl.

I am so deep today with my analogies. I will have her tell more of her trip soon.

To fold or not to fold

A couple of years ago I stopped folding all blankets that were in my linen closet. My girls would get into this closet daily and mess up all my folding. They would try and put them back but it looked more like a good stuff it job. Why would I waste my time and who cares if the blankets are folded. Well this has slowly led to my new approach on Laundry. I/Scott fold clothes and make them look like perfect piles that could be put on the tables at the Gap. Place them nicely in drawers and am positive my kids will be grateful for the folded clothes magically appearing in there drawers. The next day I walk by there rooms and notice they were looking for one shirt and have destroyed all my work. Yes, they stuff them back and the drawers jammed shut. Why? Why? do I fold. I don't like folding and does it really matter they are stuffed in their drawers. Now, I know all of you that are OCD this would drive you crazy. You know the ones who iron T-shirts...I am not OCD and can sleep fine with their drawers jammed shut with unfolded clothes. Today I am grateful for this approach. Brody was supposed to be sleeping. Instead he found a fun game to throw all his clean clothes over the stairs. If they were all folded nicely I might of freaked out a bit. No, no freak out.... because I will jam them back in his drawers in one fail swoop and might let him jam them back in his drawers. What did I gain today...10 minutes... I might of wasted this time folding his clothes again.

I don't think they look like raggedy children who wear clothes stuffed in a drawer. My little secret to saving moms time. NO MORE FOLDING... JUST STUFF IT!!!

PS...Scott does not like this approach to his drawers. I wonder why?

11th birthday

I think I love this cake as much as you!!! Happy 11th Birthday!

No, I did not make it...but the key to being a good mom is finding people who help me look like a good mom. It is getting hard to come up with a birthday cake that she thinks is AWESOME. No longer can I stick some characters on a cake and get excitement. I think I still got an AWESOME reaction. Thanks to my cake maker and good luck with your new business I will be spreading the word.

BYU dorks

As an Alumni of BYU, I will always be a fan. However, you will never see me wearing some sports jersey for any sports team. I kind of think they are "white trash." I grew up in the south and think this might have created issues when it comes to my limited fan support. I got a call from my husband saying a package is in the mail and don't throw it away when I open it. I guess he knew what my first reaction would be. Mentally, I told myself...he is a grown man and can buy whatever he wants even if he will look like a dork in my living room...let's just hope he will never wear it out of the house. Then I saw a 2T in the box...Scott is not a 2T. Well, now I have two BYU dorks sitting on my couch with visions/nightmares of what Brody will grow up to become. See picture below. Let it be recorded here that if Brody grows up remotely close to the photo below, it was not his mothers doing. Go BYU!!!

Fall Crafts

Is it too early for Halloween crafts when it is 105 degrees outside. Some new creations. Everyone does the glass block at Christmas why not a pumpkin?
