My $100,000 moment

I have been taking showers due to a new product I purchased. I love it all except the packaging. This is the cover of the package. Would someone really go scuba diving with a cast? Scott thinks it is smart marketing to show that it would be water proof 100 feet down. I think you can just show someone swimming which would be more likely. Anyway, I thought it was funny and it made me think I should get out more if you can scuba dive with a cast. Big mistake...

I went to a music concert at the Staples Center. I was crutching down to my seat and everyone was staring because most people don't go to concerts on crutches. My next obstacle was stairs that were pretty steep. I slide down on my bum at home but it would be too embarrassing to do that in public. So I started crutching away and got my crutch wedged in between the seat and stairs. The crutch was pinned under my arms and I looked like a pole vaulter in a cast hurling down the stairs. I slammed down on top of my crutch and smashed it into 5 pieces. The scariest part was that I was near the edge and almost fell over the side to the level below but a small pane of glass stopped me as my face was pressed against it. It was scary at first but when I realized I was OK I started laughing as I realized how funny I must have looked. Everyone else started laughing as soon as I did. I know they were laughing AT me not WITH me...thinking no wonder she has a cast on--how uncoordinated is she? I was wheeled to my car in a wheel chair by the Staples Center personnel (probably to make sure I didn't hurt myself again on their property) and had to shop for crutches at 1 in the morning. Yes, I stayed for the whole concert. I wish with all my heart someone had recorded my fall because I would definitely win the $100,000 dollar grand prize for America's funniest home videos. I asked my date if this were our first date would he ever ask me out again. He said never...too bad we're married and you are stuck with me.
Here is a picture of what my arm looked like the next day.

Too cool!!!

I have been so good for 8 weeks of no driving. I started looking ahead to the 10 more weeks of no driving and could not bear it. Late one night when no one was on the road I tried out my skills with my new favorite foot...lefty. I did surprisingly well if I do say so myself. Taylor would not drive with me at first until I passed an 11 year old driving test. As I was driving all of us to church they all made comments that it felt normal again. I think it was mainly because I had make-up on and a cute outfit instead of sweatpants. Not normal but I will take it. FYI...another athlete went down in NCAA basketball march madness with a torn achilles. All the cool people have a torn achilles. Try it.

My Twin

Do you ever go to parties and play games where the question might be...what one celebrity do you think you are most like. I never really had an answer until today.
David Beckham and me...He just tore his Achilles yesterday and is out for 6 months. I feel so much better about myself. If the best athlete in soccer can do it than surely it can happen to me. It happens to athletes not just lazy losers. I am sorry he had to go through this to make me feel better...but it really really does. Thanks Twin!

Joy Ride

Don't look if you have a weak stomach. This is my foot before they took out the stitches. Good news... they took out the stitches and I am healing nicely. Bad news...no shaving my leg for four more weeks and no shower for four more weeks. I still can't put any weight on it or drive. I now have a hard pink cast on my leg.

After my new cast I went to the grocery store to take a Joy ride in a driving cart. Something I have always wanted to do. It was the best time I have had in a month.

Fresh Air

My Caregiver finally let me go outside for some fresh air. I feel like an elderly person who watches people and everyone thinks they are creepy. Now I understand...they are so bored inside staring at the walls. My 81 year old grandma came to pay me a visit. She has had two hips replaced and had cancer this year and she came walking in. I told her I thought it was mean that she comes strolling in with no wheelchair and I was going to hit her with my crutches. She told me I could borrow her shower chair and high toilet seat...I think I might take her up on it. Monday is a big day. I get the staples removed in my foot...I will post a picture what it looks like with the staples in it. I get to shave my leg for the first time in a month...no picture of that, it looks like a man. I get to take a shower for the first time in a month. No picture of that either...perverts :)
