2013 Pumpkin Carve

Our typical night of Carving.

Brody needs help from dad...

Syd never needs help

Carly takes forever and is always last but eventually comes up with something she is happy with.

NYC Skyline

Taylor always comes up with something disturbing.

This is her "twerk or treat" pumpkin!  Paying respect to Miley Cyrus (does she have any respect left?).

Favorite Recent Moments

Brody painting a life-size picture of Carly...coloring her skin dark brown.  "Mom, she is not a white girl!"

Brody representing the Utah Jazz behind Lakers and Clippers jerseys.

Watching Taylor run at 5:30 AM...jealous and glad I was not her at the same time.

Loved young girls on Syd's soccer team learning about breast cancer and supporting women.  Syd and I had a good conversation about why she was wearing pink.

Not as good a conversation with Brody as to why he had to wear pink.  1.  "I am not wearing pink girl socks!" and 2.  "Who on my team has breast cancer?"

Such a boy...picking at crevasses.

His faces crack me up.

The previous photos prove I go to my kids' events.  This last photo proves I am not perfect.  I forgot Syd's awards assembly and my friends were making me feel extra guilty by sending me a photo.

Prepared for the Cold

Taylor and her Dad love the comedian Brian Regan.  He bought her tickets for her birthday but could not go with her because he was going to be in New York.  She did not want to go with me because...apparently, I do not laugh out loud enough.  He is really funny but sometimes I just laugh on the inside.

Scott and I have been before last year and it was funny but still he teases me that I was stone faced the whole time.  Anyway, last year it was in an outdoor theater and I was freezing the whole time.  Here is a picture of me at the concert...full belly laughter.

This year it was at the same place, so wouldn't you assume it would be in the same outdoor theater?  I was going prepared.  We looked like we were going skiing with our jackets, beanies and boots.  I even brought a blanket...and was this close to bringing my heater I use for soccer.  We walked in and I was looking at all these people in thin cotton shirts thinking, "Idiots!"  I think to myself "They are going to freeze!"

Nope, I am the idiot...it was in an indoor theater this time.  So we looked a little overdressed as if we got dressed in Alaska.  But I wasn't cold though.

The worst part was that Scott got front row seats so everyone saw our winter wear...I thought for sure Brian Regan would comment on our outfits.  Luckily, no audience interaction.  This is how close we were...that is his stool with the water bottles on it.  Scott was pretty bummed he had to miss.

Scooter Mom

There are some things you have to laugh at as you do them.  One of those things is me riding a scooter to school so Brody could ride it home.  Is there an age limit or weight limit on the scooters?  Luckily I did not get hurt.

It does not look so wrong when he is riding it...I am happy to look like a fool to make you happy.

I kept thinking of my mother-in-law and a story Scott tells very well.  She had to ride her son's bike home from school for them.  He didn't tell her the brakes were going out...so she went down a very steep hill and crashed into a tree and completely totaled the bike.  He was mad at her for wrecking his bike.  Of course, the story has gotten embellished over the years...something to do with how much hang time she actually got and whether or not she cleared the first tree...etc.

Carly's in the Big Apple

I took these photos off Carly's phone...she had 450 photos...I thought that would be a really long blog post.  These are my favorites.

First stop was a tour bus around the city...she took so many pictures of buildings, traffic, taxis and stores we have in California too.

Yankee Stadium...with her baseball buddy.  She felt like a traitor to her Angels.

Riding a tandem bike through Central Park.

9/11 memorial with her cousins she has never met before.

Carlo's Bake Shop in Hoboken, NJ...she bought a box of treats to try one new everyday.  She said they are as good as they look on TV.

These were taken at a Cake Boss Cafe near Times Square.

Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum...Carly took photos with every wax figure there.  I will spare you those photos.

Scott knew I would like one with my girl Whitney.

Carly being inapro-pro with One D!!!

Statue of Liberty...Everyone picks her nose in the museum.   I did the same thing.

These two are my favorite photos...I think they had fun all day and all night.  Scott did work some...no photos of that.

My Life this Week

Many years ago I was sooo looking forward to when all my kids were in school.   I knew I would have so much free time for myself when that day came.   I personally thought having 3 little girls under the age of 5 and staying home was boring.  I was busy...but with mundane things...I was in survival mode.  I pushed through and now they are all in school...so I should have more free time...right?  NOPE...oh, how dumb I was for having those thoughts.  I can't put it into words or explain why... but I am busier now than I have ever been and wish I could just sit by the tub for an hour and watch them play.  I am missing my boring days of being home all day and never having to drive my car once!!!

Here are a few highlights of my week!!!

Brody's first school assembly for 9/11...I love his sad face looking for me in the crowd and then how happy he is when he finds me.

He was supposed to wear red white and blue.   This is easy for my girls with bows for their hair when they were little, but what to do for a boy?  Yes, he wore the bandanna...I was sad when I saw he had to wear their USA hat...a bandanna is way more American!

My highlight for Sydney was a school project.  She had to do a timeline of key events in her life and attach photos.
For example...the year she was born.

The year she began playing soccer...etc.

The one that threw me off...she included the very key event in her life of going to the One Direction concert...Really???

Taylor had a birthday and instead of buying her balloons...I bought her a duck dynasty rug and added to the Happy Happy Happy... Birthday Taylor with vinyl.

Our biggest event is Scott and Carly's Fiddler on the Roof Play.   Scott was the Constable (police) and Carly was a village girl.

Can we get any bigger side burns...I was so distracted by the side burns.  I forgot to listen to his lines.

My village girl with the brown hood.

Mean old constable with gargantuan sideburns.

Carly getting kicked out by Mr. Sideburns

 A group shot

 My favorite shot.
and the most annoying thing of my week...is this song that all my kids think is hilarious.
