So I have been going through lots of stuff to get rid of for the garage sale. It is not hard for me to get rid of stuff. I can't figure out why I can't get rid of these shoes. I have had them 10 years and have never worn them.
A long time ago Scott gave me these for a gift. He went online at Nike and designed these shoes. They were really expensive and if you look close at the tongue of the shoe he had them monogrammed...Bear and Honey...our nicknames. It was so thoughtful and he knows I love running shoes. They are just so ugly I could never bring myself to wear them in public. I began calling them my clown shoes because I thought the colors just were ugly together. This may make me sound heartless because it really was a thoughtful gift. He keeps asking me why have I not thrown them out in 10 years. As I was cleaning out my shoes for this garage sale...I had to ask myself why can't I get rid of these. Maybe I am not that heartless because every time I see these shoes I smile and I think of his thoughtful gestures. He has given me great gifts and surprises, but yet I hold onto these shoes. Is it weird that I feel loved each time I look at these shoes.
If I ever had to dress up for a clown I know the first item of clothes for my costume...is that heartless?

I don't think they are that ugly. :) I also didn't know your nicknames were honey and bear...thats tender. I would probably hold onto them too.
my first year of marriage, we painted mugs for each other at "color me mine" . mine is horrendous. scott tried to paint flowers and dots with grass. who knows what he was thinking. its the ugliest mug ever. but i still have it in my cupboard and smile when i see it. it's just like the shoes. you are not heartless, you just have good taste.
Have you seen the stuff my husband has bought for me? He finds end tables, telephones, nut crackers and a million other rusty things around the yard. Ther are some things that you just have to smile about as part of this marriage experience. Got to love them but I sure didn't see this coming.
